About this opportunity
The Cambridge University Africa Mentorship Programme (CAMP) is an initiative of the African Society of Cambridge University designed to increase the number and success rate of African postgraduate applicants seeking admission to the University of Cambridge.
The programme addresses some of the barriers that can make highly competitive postgraduate applications difficult, including limited knowledge of the Cambridge application process, challenges in obtaining strong academic references, difficulties connecting with potential supervisors, and the financial burden associated with application and English-language testing fees.
CAMP provides structured online guidance, combining general webinars with personalised one-to-one mentorship. The programme runs annually from September to December, helping participants prepare for postgraduate applications and navigate the Cambridge admissions and funding process more confidently.
Requirements
Eligibility Requirements for Mentees
To participate as a CAMP mentee, applicants must meet the programme’s eligibility criteria.
Applicants must:
• Be from the African continent or the African diaspora.
• Demonstrate academic excellence.
• Have an interest in pursuing postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge.
• Provide relevant personal and academic information during the application process.
• Submit information about research experience, financial circumstances, and academic background.
• Provide a copy of their CV.
CAMP particularly encourages applications from women, individuals living in conflict-affected areas of Africa, and persons with disabilities.
